The weekend of October 24-25, 10 sailors and their crews competed in the Club Championship for the Hewson Trophy on Vanguard 15s. The racing was close and fun to watch. Saturday brought sunny skies and light air. Two of the three races on Saturday had an average of 5 knots. The last race was shortened in a dying breeze but the fleet still finished within the 45 minute time limit. Sunday brought very different conditions with rain and overcast skies and wind starting the day at 7 knots building to 10-12 with gusts over 15. This also brought the opportunity to shake up the results, see lots of capsizes and smiles. A full round robin rotation was completed with 10 total races. This year's LNYC Club Champion winning the Hewson Trophy is Tim Porter with crew, Angie Matras. They sailed a consistent regatta, winning by 12 points.
Start thinking about next year, who your fleet will nominate, and coming out to cheer on your representative!
