2024 Mark Gise Team Win Old Goat Thistle Regatta
Mark Gise and teammates Scott Gise and Diana Young-Paiva won this weekend's Old Goat Thistle Regatta at Lake Lanier Sailing Club. Mark and team sailed a great series coming back in the last race resulting in a 1 point win over current Thistle National Champion Paul Abdullah. Solid win against national caliber competition. The 2024 Carolina Keelboat One-Design Regatta (CKOD) is scheduled for November 9th-10th at Lake Norman Yacht Club. The event is open to keelboat fleets plus E-Scows. 05.17.1936 - 08.28.2024 John joined LNYC in 1983 and was a longtime member of the Highlander Fleet. His first boat was #575 but he will probably be best remembered for sailing Yellow Fever #924. He was a frequent competitor at HCIA National Championships as well as sailing in the Piper Regattas at LNYC. He and Doreen loved Scottish country dancing and used to dress in their kilts to lead the

Lake Norman Yacht Club Sweeps the Podium at the ACCs
Last years Flying Scot Atlantic Coast Championship was scrubbed due to a hurricane off the coast of New Jersey. This years weather was the perfect opposite. High temps on Saturday of 82 degrees, winds 10 to 14, and light cloud cover made for an almost perfect day on the water. 2024 Annual Labor Day One Design Regatta & Poker Run
The Annual LNYC Labor Day Regatta and "Anything That Floats" Poker Run will be held Saturday, August 31st . The Regatta and Poker Run Competitors meeting will be held at 10am with a dinner social starting at 6pm. Bring your own food/dish to share for a dinner social on the Clubhouse lawn and Crossroads. On September 7th, Lake Norman Yacht Club will host the third annual fundraiser benefiting Lake Norman Community Sailing (LNCS). After club series racing, we will have a delicious dinner, silent and live auctions, and a raffle! LNCS offers: all-access Memberships, popular twice-weekly Social Sails, Learn to Sail classes, ASA certification courses, Paddleboard classes, Kayak classes and Educational Seminars. 2024 The Claypools repeat as Flying Scot Womens North American Champions
Carol Claypool, with skipper Nancy Claypool and crew Carrie Berger (both Southern Yacht Club), defended their 2023 title by winning the 2024 Flying Scot Womens North American Championship. Fifteen boats competed over 5 races. The Claypools finished with a comfortable 6 point lead over the 2nd place team of Gomes/Reilly. 2024 LNYC bring home the U20 North Americans championship!
Congratulations to Steve Shaw, Tim Porter, and Jeff Linton for their outstanding performance at the 2024 Ultimate 20 North Americans! Representing Lake Norman Yacht Club and U20 Fleet #2, they secured first place with a total of 9 points, including 5 Bullets.
