The genesis of the U20 was simple.  Create a monohull with multihull performance.  The U20 offers a dry and stable platform with safe interior space for kids or crew.  The boat is lightweight and easily trailerable.  It has a perfect blend of size and simplicity along with responsive dinghy-like handling.  The U20 is an ideal boat for day sailing or racing One Design or PHRF.  The Class has hosted a North American Regatta every year since 1995 and has an annual Pacific Coast Championship and East Coast Championship.

Fleet 2 on Lake Norman is currently the largest U20 fleet in the country, with 23 boats. The fleet participates in a number of regattas on Lake Norman every year, including Carolina Keelboat One Design (CKOD), Keelboat Midwinters, the Lake Norman Hospice Regatta, Thursday Night Series (PHRF), and the LNYC club series.
