    2024 Flying Scot North American Championship Results

    Fifty boats competed at the NACs at Cedar Point Yacht Club on Long Island Sound this year. It was the first time the fleet didn't have a qualifying day.  Instead, each competitor, self-selected their fleet. Check-in, measurement, and welcome party were all on Sunday. The first  scheduled day of racing was Monday, and it was a complete blowout with winds in the mid-20s and gusts to 40. Instead, we got a chance to tour the 30K sq/ft North Sails loft

    2024 Wounded Warrior Project

    On May 11th, Lake Norman Yacht Club was honored to host veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project and their families. Thirty-two participants were welcomed by 30 LNYC volunteers for a great day on the lake.  After a quick breakfast and introduction, we got out on the water in a perfect 8 knots of breeze and clear blue skies.  After a couple hours cruising around the lake, the participants came back in for lunch, then

    2024 Sail Camp Registration is Now Open

      Camp begins June 10th and runs through June 14th. There are fleets for everyone, beginner fleets in optics, Sunfish, and 420s. Adventure sailing in the Sunfish, learning to race in the Optis, OPen skiffs, and 420s. Advanced instruction in the Lasers and Vanguard 15s.     2024 - Wife/Husband Teams win all the Great 48 Races!

    I imagine this has happened before, but we had different couples win every race this year. With 30 boats registered for the 2024 Great 48, we felt pretty lucky by the end of the regatta. Saturday's forecast was spot on with thunderstorms, lightning, rain, and not much breeze so we didn't get any racing in.
