2024 LNCS Winter Series Class

Attend in Person or Remotely via Zoom.

Meet, eat and learn with your friends. Each class is $20/each. We will provide the main entrée and ask each participant to bring a side. All classes are on Wednesdays, 6:00-9:00pm. Zoom session starts at 6:45pm.  So if you're attending remotely, dial in at 6:45.  In person dinner starts at 6pm.

Here is the schedule:

January 3, 2024: Boat Speed & Brisket: 

Come learn how to improve your boat speed and handling. In this class you will learn:

• How to accelerate the boat to full speed quickly
• How to manage puffs and lulls
• How to maximize your VMG during tacks and jibes (if you don't know what VMG is you better come to the lecture)
• How to steer the boat most effectively without using the rudder
• How to round marks most efficiently

January 17, 2024: Tacos & Tactics: 

Good racers all know how to find and stay in the pressure, stay in sync with the shifts, and manage the fleet. If your boat speed and boat handling are pretty good but you find yourself constantly wondering why other boats are ahead of you, this class could be for you.

February 21, 2024: Racing Rules, Ravioli & Ragu: 

Sean knows Racing Rules of Sailing inside and out. You need to know them too if you want to sail confidently at Social Sails or in regattas. In this class you will learn:

• Rules pertaining to the start, upwind leg, windward mark, downwind, leeward mark and the finish line
• Rules pertaining to mark roundings
• How to stay out of trouble (use the rules as a shield)
• When to use the rules tactically (use the rules as a sword)
