8 Bells - John Gibbon

John joined LNYC in 1983 and was a longtime member of the Highlander Fleet.  His first boat was #575 but he will probably be best remembered for sailing Yellow Fever #924.   He was a frequent competitor at HCIA National Championships as well as sailing in the Piper Regattas at LNYC.  He and  Doreen loved Scottish country dancing and used to dress in their kilts to lead the parade which was once a feature of the Pipers opening ceremonies. Even though he hadnt sailed recently, he always came to the fleets social events and, as a Past Fleet Captain, rarely missed the clubs Commissioning Ceremonies.  He will be sadly missed.
