Over 30 boats from 10 different states came to the 2023 Great 48 Regatta.  Temperatures were perfect with overnight lows in the 50s, highs in the low 70s, and a full moon as a bonus!  It was so pleasant at the dock Saturday morning we decided to stay there a little longer and let the wind fill in.  After a postponement ashore and a general recall, "most" competitors got in 1 long race in 4 to 6 mph winds.  The others got a chance to start the party early.

Since the Kentucky derby was running Saturday evening we celebrated with Mint Julips and watched the derby on the big screen.  After dinner and the derby, the sailors got a chance to review their GPS tracks using a cool app called Race Qs (https://raceqs.com/).  We put that on the big screen and got to see who made out where on the race course.

Sunday was another sunny day in the 70s, but winds were 12 to 16.  With a 10am start, we were able to get in four, 2 lap, 40 minute races.  Congratulations to our Flying Scot builders, Tyler and Carrie Andrews from Deep Creek, on the victory finishing with all 1s and 2s on the score card.  Charlie and his son Chip Clifton, from the Sarasota Sailing Squadron, finished 2nd overall and won the last 3 races!
