Ultimate 20 Clinic Recap

On a beautiful day in late October, Lake Norman Yacht Club played host for an Ultimate 20 'On the water' clinic.With four boats in attendance, the numbers worked out well having three instructors, BJ Jones, Tim Porter and Steve Shaw from Shapes of Speed to provide personalized attention to each skipper and boat.The morning started with an hour chalk talk on how sails are designed and built to provide the background for rig tune and sail trim.The group was then sent down to verify rigs and shrouds were set up to accentuate the shape of their sails.

Unfortunately, the breeze didn't live up to the forecast and left crews struggling to keep enough water over the foils to stay in tuning lineups.

Luckily the three instructors were able to rotate boats on the water and every boat was able to have the benefit of having on board, personalized help with boat trim, sail trim and boat handling.
